Group urges Governor Kefas to sack Taraba Finance Commissioner over alleged exam malpractice, says allegation undermines government’s integrity, public trust

A group, Concerned Youths for Good Governance, under the umbrella of the Governor Kefas Movement for Development, has called on the Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, to sack the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning, Mrs. Sarah Enoch Adi, over alleged involvement in an examination malpractice.

The call was made in a statement issued to journalists on Thursday in Jalingo, describing the alleged act as “unfortunate, unethical and unbecoming of a public official serving in a government anchored on integrity and accountability.”

According to the statement, a viral video allegedly showing the commissioner’s involvement in an examination misconduct has generated widespread reactions across the state, with many residents calling for immediate government action.

The group urged Governor Kefas to suspend the commissioner and set up an independent investigative committee to verify the authenticity of the allegation, saying the issue had already affected public trust in the commissioner’s office and the administration at large.

“The allegations against the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning are serious and damaging. If found to be true, they would amount to a betrayal of public trust and a violation of the ethical standards expected of leaders,” the statement said.

It added that since inception, the Kefas administration had placed emphasis on integrity, discipline, and merit as its guiding principles, warning that failure to address such issues could undermine those values.

The group also stated that no public official should be above the law, insisting that the credibility of the government rests on its willingness to act decisively against wrongdoing, regardless of who is involved.

It further urged Governor Kefas to sustain his reform efforts by cleansing the system of individuals whose actions could derail progress made in education, governance, and the civil service.

The group commended the governor for his commitment to good governance and transparency, particularly through initiatives aimed at improving accountability in revenue generation and public expenditure.

Efforts to reach Mrs. Enoch for comments were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages to her mobile phone were not responded to as of the time of filing this report.
