The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, a renowned Indian Hindu temple and one of the largest in Europe, has opened discussions with Nigeria’s foremost spiritual organisation, the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS), on promoting interfaith collaboration and understanding.

The meeting, held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the temple’s complex on Pramukh Swami Road, Neasden, London, centred on fostering mutual respect and cooperation among global faith communities.

The BCS delegation from Calabar, Nigeria, comprised Archbishop (Prof.) David Irefin, Head of Evangelism; Archbishop Justice Osai Ahiakwo; and Archbishop (Dr.) Mitchell Egboibe.

During the interaction, the BCS extended a formal invitation to the BAPS leadership for future interreligious exchange and fellowship programmes under the Directorate of Evangelism’s interfaith outreach initiative.

The temple authorities warmly received the proposal, expressing appreciation for the BCS’s message of peace, love, and universal brotherhood. Both sides also shared insights into their respective missions and global humanitarian activities.

Acknowledging the BCS’s growing impact across Africa and beyond, the Hindu leaders commended its efforts to promote unity and spiritual awareness.

Archbishop Ahiakwo noted that the visit, sponsored by His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, provided “a unique platform for dialogue and mutual respect among faiths.”

Meanwhile, the BCS Directorate of Evangelism is expected to hold further engagements with academics and leaders of the Muslim community on strengthening interreligious cooperation to enhance global peace and understanding.
