Citizens United calls for thorough investigation into Senate clerk’s alleged age falsification

The last may not have been heard of the murky circumstances surrounding the recent appointment of Mr Emmanuel Odo as Clerk of the Senate as an amalgamation of civil, economic, human and gender rights groups under the aegis of the Citizens United To Save Humanity (CUSH) has called for a thorough, impartial and unbiased investigation into numerous allegations of age falsification, fraudulent declaration of age and false declaration under oath levelled against Mr Odo, the acting Clerk of the Senate’.
According to the CUSH communique made available to newsmen in Abuja: “It has always been the cherished practice and tradition of the National Assembly to adhere to the rules and regulations that affect appointments, promotions, deployments and terminations from the NASS service and deservedly so which is why it ranks quite high in public reckoning and national discourse, thus any aberration or detraction from its beloved tradition and practices will not augur well for its overall image and standing while sending the wrong signals to similar institutions and establishments in the nation’s body politic.
In this regard, we firmly urge the National Assembly Service Commission, the Senate and House leadership the NASS management, as well as the Office of the Head of Service to collaborate and synergise in order to institute and execute a thorough, comprehensive, independent and holistic investigation of the weighty allegations bordering on fraud, perjury, and criminal conspiracy to defraud the National Assembly levelled against Mr Emmanuel Odo, the putative Senate Clerk with a view to sanctioning those found culpable of breaching the law, falsifying official documents and fraudulently altering their date of birth for criminal purposes.
A lot of tongues are wagging and there is an underlying but rising tension in the Senate as well as the entire NASS administration as a result of the age falsification saga and only a comprehensive impartial, independent and unbiased probe can calm already frayed nerves and bring lasting tranquility and stability to the entire NASS organogram.
