Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has extended his condolences over the death of Alhaji Nuhu Yashe, the Bebeji of Katsina and District Head of Kusada, who passed away this evening shortly after the Isha prayer, following a brief illness. He died at the age of 92.
In his condolence message, Governor Radda described the late Alhaji Nuhu Yashe as a highly respected traditional leader, statesman, and exemplary public servant whose life reflected honesty, wisdom, humility, and dedication to the service of his people and the Katsina Emirate.
“Alhaji Nuhu Yashe was more than a traditional leader; he was a man of peace, integrity, and deep understanding. His contributions to governance and community service will remain unforgettable. He lived a life grounded in fairness, discipline, and a sincere commitment to the progress of his people,” the Governor said.
Governor Radda recalled the late elder’s long and distinguished public life, which began in the 1950s during his years in the Native Authority Service. He rose through the ranks and became the Head of Service of the old Katsina Native Authority in 1975, before eventually being appointed as the District Head of Kusada. The Governor noted that he belonged to a generation of leaders who served with sincerity, truthfulness, and strong moral responsibility.
“He represented the best traditions of public service simplicity, loyalty, and devotion to duty. His guidance carried weight, shaped by experience, culture, and a deep understanding of public administration. His legacy of honesty and discipline will continue to inspire many within and beyond Katsina State,” Governor Radda added.
On behalf of the Government and people of Katsina State, Governor Radda extended his condolences to the Emir of Katsina, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, the Yashe family, the people of Kusada, and all who benefitted from his leadership and mentorship.
He prayed that Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, widen his grave, and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus. He also prayed for Allah to comfort his family, friends, and the entire community during this difficult moment, granting them patience and strength to bear the loss.
