The Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, has issued an Executive Order for the immediate commencement and completion of payment of outstanding pensions, gratuities and related entitlements for actual pensioners in the State.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Yusuf Sanda says the action is in line with the compassion and commitment of the Governor towards the welfare of the senior citizens who have served the State diligently.
“Taraba State must honour those who have dedicated their lives to public service, their dignity is non-negotiable, and attending to their welfare is our moral duty,” Kefas stated.
A special outreach team will be deployed to all the 16 Local Government Areas, wards, and villages to locate and document pensioners who are alive but incapacitated, ensuring that their entitlements are paid without any difficulties.
Governor Kefas directed the State Ministry of Finance to submit a weekly compliance report to the Governor’s office warning that no administrative obstacles will be tolerated.
The Governor urges all pensioners to remain calm and assures them that the payment process is being prioritised and will be handled with urgency.
