The Leadership of the Alumni Association of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has issued an official statement dissociating itself from what it described as an “Unauthorized Rally Scheduled for November 20, 2025.”
National President of the Alumni, Mohammed Sani Wada, in a statement he signed, stated that, “The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Alumni Association hereby issues a clear public notice concerning a planned rally on November 20, 2025, organized by a group falsely claiming to represent ATBU alumni.’
According to him, “This unauthorized group intends to convene a rally to advocate for changing the mandate of ATBU.”
He stressed that, “The ATBU Alumni Association strongly dissociates itself from this group and any activities related to this rally. The Association has already taken a firm and decisive stance against any attempts to alter the established mandate and vision of ATBU.”
“We caution all members of the University community and the general public that participation in this rally is not sanctioned by the National Alumni Association,” he added.
Wada stressed that, “Individuals choosing to take part do so entirely at their own risk and without any endorsement or support from the legitimate alumni body.”
The National President of the Alumni added that, “The Association remains resolute in protecting the integrity, mission, and future of ATBU in collaboration with university stakeholders.”
It would be recalled that in recent times, ATBU has been enmessed in controversy over the ongoing process of altering the establishment law of the University to convert it into a conventional institution from its present status of a specialised University of Technology and science.
