Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has congratulated Air Commodore Garba Ibrahim Jibia on his promotion to the rank of Air Vice Marshal in the Nigerian Air Force.
The governor, in a statement on Saturday, described the elevation as well-deserved recognition of Jibia’s exceptional military career, operational excellence, and strategic leadership.
Air Vice Marshal Jibia, an indigene of Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina, currently serves as Chief of Staff, Tactical Air Command, Makurdi.
Governor Radda particularly commended Jibia’s outstanding performance as Air Component Commander of Operation Hadarin Daji, now Operation Fansan Yamma Sector 2, Katsina, where he brought renewed tactical innovation and strategic foresight to air operations in the northwest.
“Air Vice Marshal Jibia’s command philosophy, anchored on intelligence-driven missions, real-time coordination with ground forces, and disciplined execution, led to the neutralization of numerous terrorist enclaves and restoration of relative peace in Katsina and other northwestern states,” the governor stated.
He noted that under Jibia’s leadership, the deployment of T-129 ATAK Helicopters, Alpha Jets, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles transformed the precision and effectiveness of air interdiction missions.
“His contributions to securing Katsina State and the entire northwest region remain invaluable. This promotion reflects the Federal Government’s recognition of his dedication and professionalism,” Radda added.
Air Vice Marshal Jibia is a member of the 44th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s in Strategy and Defence Studies.
Throughout his distinguished career, he has held strategic appointments including Military Assistant to the Commandant, Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji; Deputy Director Peacekeeping Operations at Nigerian Air Force Headquarters; and Air Assistant to the Chief of the Air Staff.
A seasoned pilot, he is rated on several strategic platforms, including the Presidential jet, Gulfstream G550, and Challenger 605, and served among the Presidential Pilots at the Presidential Air Fleet, Abuja.
He also served as Commander of 305 Special Mobility Group, Calabar; Commander of 303 Medium Airlift Group, Ilorin; and Air Component Operations Officer, Operation Hadin Kai, Maiduguri.
Governor Radda prayed for continued success in Air Vice Marshal Jibia’s military career and expressed confidence that he would continue to serve Nigeria with distinction.
