Taraba State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas has presented JAC pick-up vans to the newly inaugurated chairmen of the 16 Local Government Councils in the State.
Presenting the vehicles on Friday on behalf of Governor Kefas, Secretary to Taraba State Government, Gebon Timothy Kataps urged the chairmen to swing into action by prioritising security of their communities and protecting land and forest resources across the state.
Kefas encouraged them to justify the trust reposed in them by the people and collaborate closely with traditional institutions within their domains to ease their work.
In his remarks, Permanent Secretary of the Taraba State Bureau for Local Government, Traditional and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engineer Godfrey Dame said the vehicles were procured to support the Chairmen in effectively carrying out their responsibilities and delivering the dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
Some chairmen expressed appreciation to the gesture by the Governor and pledged to work in alignment with his developmental agenda.
