Katsina Governor Radda mourns passing of two Kano assembly lawmakers

Describes their deaths as a profound loss to Kano, Nigeria

Katsina State Governor and Chairman, Northwest Governors’ Forum, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of two members of the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Aminu Sa’adu Ungogo, representing Ungogo Constituency, and Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, representing Kano Municipal Constituency.

Governor Radda described their deaths as a profound loss to Kano State, the Assembly, and the Nigerian legislative community.

“The passing of Hon. Aminu Sa’adu Ungogo and Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji is not only a personal loss to their families but also a significant loss to the people of Kano State and the nation at large. Their dedication to public service, commitment to their constituents, and contributions to legislative governance will always be remembered,” Governor Radda said.

The governor noted that the late lawmakers passed away on Wednesday, 24th December 2025, while in active duty at the Kano State House of Assembly. Hon. Ungogo, Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, died after a brief illness, and Hon. Daneji passed away shortly after.

Governor Radda commended their service and stated that their deaths occurred at a critical time when the people of Kano State and the Assembly needed their experience and leadership.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Katsina State, I extend condolences to the Governor of Kano State, the Speaker and members of the Kano State House of Assembly, and the families and constituents of the late lawmakers. We stand with them in this moment of grief,” the Governor added.

He prayed that Almighty Allah grants the departed souls Aljannat Firdaus and provides comfort, strength, and fortitude to their families and all those mourning their loss.
