The newly elected President of the Mgbandiak Obolo Foundation, also known as Obolo People’s Converge, Enerieng Engr. Cosmos Oron, has pledged to uplift, uphold, and advance the lofty ideals of the Obolo people.
Engr. Oron, an oil and gas expert, expressed profound gratitude to members of the apex pan-Obolo socio-cultural organisation for the confidence reposed in him and his executive.
The election took place at the Ulok Ulok Hall in Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and was marked by excitement, as Obolo sons and daughters from various communities gathered to witness the historic event.
The new president made the pledge on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, during the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected executive council, at which the outgoing leadership formally handed over.
Reaffirming their collective commitment, the new executive vowed to promote the wellbeing and prosperity of the Obolo people across the globe.
Engr. Oron, who hails from Okoroete in Eastern Obolo Local Government Area, pledged to reposition the organisation as a strong, united, and credible voice for the Obolo people.
He stated that his administration would prioritise unity, strategic engagement, and effective advocacy aimed at safeguarding Obolo interests and promoting sustainable development within Obolo land and beyond.
His emergence as president was widely welcomed by members, who expressed optimism about the future of the organisation under his leadership.
In his valedictory remarks, the immediate past President, Enerieng Apostle Hon. Samuel Eka, thanked members for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.
He noted that the pioneer executive laid a solid foundation for the growth and stability of the Mgbandiak Obolo Foundation.
Among the achievements recorded under his leadership, he highlighted the acquisition of land for the construction of Obolo House, which will serve as the organisation’s headquarters.
He also noted that the organisation gained recognition from the Akwa Ibom State Government as one of the respected socio-cultural bodies in the state.
He urged the incoming executive to consolidate on the gains recorded and steer the organisation to greater heights.
Also inaugurated during the event were the newly elected executives of the Ibeno and Eastern Obolo chapters of Mgbandiak Obolo, further strengthening the organisation’s grassroots coordination and outreach.
The Mgbandiak Obolo Foundation remains a pan-Obolo socio-cultural platform dedicated to promoting unity, welfare, and the overall prosperity of the Obolo people wherever they reside worldwide.
The 2025 Annual Converge and inauguration ceremony marked another significant milestone in the organisation’s evolving history.
