Taraba Governor Kefas expresses zero tolerance for violence, extremism, criminality in 2026

Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas has reiterated his commitments towards renewed peace, inclusive governance, justice, and accelerated development.
In his New Year Address to the people of the State, Governor Kefas reaffirmed his administration’s zero tolerance to violence, extremism, and criminality, emphasizing that no part of the state would be allowed to remain ungoverned or serve as a haven for criminal activities.
The Governor noted that security agencies have been fully empowered and coordinated to protect lives and property of the people across the state.
He, highlighted food security, livestock reforms, and proper land administration as strategic priorities of the Government.
“Taraba must feed itself sustainably while contributing responsibly to national food supply, the state’s commitment to modern livestock practices anchored on ranching, healthy veterinary services, and conflict
prevention, alongside transparent and equitable land reforms will be the cardinal objectives of our Mandate,” the Governor noted.
“While Taraba State fully respects the constitutional authority of the Federal Government over solid minerals, it Will not tolerate illegal mining, environmental degradation and the use of mineral routes to fund insecurity,” Governor Kefas further said.
He supported the collaboration of the State with the Federal Government and relevant agencies to ensure lawful mining activities, environmentally responsible, security-compliant as well as beneficial to the host communities.
Governor Kefas emphasized on continued investments in education, infrastructure, healthcare, energy, and grassroots development, with focus on extending government presence to rural and hard-to-reach communities.
He announced plans to expand Development Areas and strengthen local participation to ensure inclusive growth.
“I will revive cultural activities and sports development as tools for unity, youth engagement, and social cohesion, Taraba’s diversity is a strength that must be harnessed for peace and progress,” he disclosed.
The Governor urged citizens to rely on verified information and reject incitement, stating that his administration remains focused on delivery, transparency, and unity saying that 2026 will be a year of peace with strength, progress with purpose, and prosperity with inclusion, calling on traditional rulers, religious leaders, farmers, pastoralists, youths, women, professionals, and political leaders to work together for the collective success of the state.
The Governor reaffirmed his oath to govern with justice, protect every life, leave no community behind, and build a safe, productive, and united Taraba State.
