Earlier Friday evening, Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, visited the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, the venue of the 2026 National Maulud, to assess the level of preparations ahead of Saturday’s main event.
The Governor interacted with members of the committee at the stadium, exchanged pleasantries with them, and expressed satisfaction with the improvements and ongoing arrangements at the facility.
Governor Radda later paid a courtesy visit to His Highness, the Emir of Kano and Khalifa of the Tijaniyyah, Muhammadu Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, at his lodge in Katsina, ahead of the 2026 National Maulud of the Tijjaniyyah Sufi Order to be hosted by the state.
During the visit, the Governor exchanged warm courtesies with the revered monarch, who is a prominent traditional and religious figure in West Africa and the Khalifa of the Tijaniyyah Sufi Order in Nigeria and neighbouring countries.
The visit forms part of preparations for the 40th Annual National Maulud of the Tijjaniyyah, held in honour of Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass, which will take place at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina.
The main event is scheduled for tomorrow and is expected to attract over four million participants from about 15 countries.
The 2026 gathering is particularly significant as it marks the third time Katsina State is hosting the National Maulud, after the 2002 and 2016 editions, and also commemorates 75 years since the first visit of Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass to Katsina State.
