The Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, on Friday charged the newly appointed chairmen and members of Committees and commissions to represent the state with integrity, commitment and strong sense of partrotism.

Addressing the appointees during their inauguration at the Exco Chambers in Government House, the Governor emphasized that the commissions they led should not be ceremonial structures, but instruments of real change, meant to improve lives and deliver measurable results.

He noted that Development Commissions must play a critical role in promoting peace, food security, and economic value across all sectors of the state.

Governor Kefas urged the appointees to work closely with local communities, traditional institutions, farmers, and security agencies to ensure that development efforts foster quality growth rather than conflict.

He stressed that infrastructure development must be people-centred, adding that projects should improve lives and not merely to generate headlines.

According to him, compassion must reflect in every policy and programmes implemented to give every sector of the state a sense of belonging.

Speaking specifically to the leadership of the Taraba State University of Tropical Agriculture, Science, Technology and Climate Action, the Governor called for excellence in research, innovation, and solutions that will transform agriculture, build climate resilience, and prepare the youth for future challenges.

He further challenged the Chairman and members of the technical committee to ensure that the institution translates into a university that Nigeria will be proud of.

On public health and environmental sustainability committee, Governor Kefas reiterated that cleanliness and environmental restoration are essential for healthy living.

He reminded the appointees of the comments made by the 1st Lady and wife of the president Sen.Oluremi Tinubu during her visit to the state last year, highlighting the importance of inclusiveness, sanitation, and worker safety.

“I want you to know that public office is not a privilege but a difficult responsibility and sacrifice to humanity, so your performance would be measured by the outcomes and solutions, not speeches or excuses,” he said.

The Governor emphasised on justice, fairness, transparency, discipline, and integrity as core values expected of all the appointees.

“I did not appoint you to work in isolation, You are expected to complement one another. Our target is simple, results that the people can see and feel.”

Responding on behalf of the appointees, Hon. Danladi Baido, a former Member of House of Representatives for Karim-Lamido, Ardo-Kola and Lau federal constituency thanked Governor Kefas for the confidence reposed in them and pledged their loyalty to the Governor, as well as commitment to protecting the interests of the State.

Baido who heads the Board of the Taraba .Emergency implementation Committee for infrastructure and human services
as Chairman, assured that the committees and commissions would work to ensure that the institutions under their leadership would strive to ensure accountanbility, fairness and with all sense of responsibility to justify the confidence repose in them.
