NSCDC honours 216 officers with promotion decoration in Anambra

No fewer than 216 officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, were decorated on Wednesday following their promotion in the 2025 promotion exercise.

Speaking at the decoration ceremony, the State Commandant, Maku Olatunde, said the promotions were a recognition of the officers’ dedication, professionalism and significant contributions to the Corps.

He explained that the elevation was not merely a change in rank, but an acknowledgement of the sacrifices, resilience and commitment demonstrated by the officers in the discharge of their duties, particularly in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.

Commandant Olatunde urged the newly promoted officers to uphold discipline, integrity and high ethical standards, while leading by example and mentoring junior personnel. He stressed that the new ranks come with increased responsibility, accountability and leadership expectations.

Expressing confidence in the officers’ abilities, he said their renewed zeal and enhanced capacity would further strengthen the Corps’ mandate and operational effectiveness.

The NSCDC boss also commended the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his leadership and unwavering support, noting that his initiatives have significantly improved officers’ welfare, morale and operational capacity nationwide.

He further praised the Commandant-General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Audi, for promoting merit-based advancement, investing in advanced training programmes and fostering a culture of professionalism within the NSCDC.

Responding on behalf of the promoted officers, Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) Oni Simeon expressed gratitude to God and the NSCDC management for the recognition. He pledged the officers’ continued commitment to duty, integrity, service excellence and loyalty to the nation.

Among those promoted to the rank of Deputy Commandant of Corps are DCC Simeon Oni, Area Commander, Area E Aguata; DCC Blessing Agu, Head of Anti-Fraud Unit; DCC Nnenna Kalu, Head of Planning, Research and Statistics Department; and DCC Ebere Nwufor, Head of Anti-Human Trafficking Unit.

Officers promoted to Assistant Commandant of Corps from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Corps include ACC Anaekwe Chinyere, Divisional Officer, Onitsha North, and ACC Nwankwo Chikwado of the Administration Department.

Others promoted from Superintendent of Corps to Chief Superintendent of Corps include Queen Nweke, Njikoka Local Government Divisional Officer; Emmanuel Nwaneri of the Training Department; Nweze Anthony, Unit Commander, Government House Awka; Ikenna Nwokedi, Head of Special Duty Unit; and Agu Chidiebere, Divisional Officer, Aguata Local Government Area, among others.

The ceremony also featured goodwill messages from invited guests who highlighted the importance of leadership, integrity and responsibility in public service. The event concluded with the formal decoration of the officers by senior officials and family members, symbolising both institutional recognition and personal achievement.
