FCT NSCDC Commandant Odumosu charges personnel on renewed zeal, commitment to credible Area Council polls
The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Olusola Odumosu PhD, has charged his personnel on renewed zeal towards improved service delivery and commitment towards conducting a credible Area Councils Election in the FCT.
Odumosu, gave this charge during a meeting with his management team, heads of departments (HODs), heads of units (HOUs), Area Commanders and Divisional officers (DOs) at the FCT Command Headquarters, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, to review the achievements of past year 2025 and strategize towards more productive engagements in year 2026.

“Through your relentless efforts, the Command under my watch, has witnessed tremendous advancement in all spheres of our Command’s operation, and the unprecedented 24 hours patrols by CNAI department has resulted in several arrests of vandals and criminals destroying public infrastructure in the FCT.
“Our Intelligence operatives and many of you holding sensitive positions also gave commendable accounts of yourselves last year, but there is still a lot to be done until criminals are flushed out completely from the FCT and its environs “, the Commandant said.
The FCT Boss, hinted that apart from its core mandate of protecting Critical National Assets and maintenance of peace and order in collaboration with other security agencies, the Corps as a major stakeholder in election security will be participating actively in the forthcoming FCT Area Council Elections schedule for February 21.
To this end, he urged all the senior officers to ensure proper coordination of staff across the Command’s formations in order to achieve a free, fair, credible and violence free Area Councils election. Stressing that, the responsibility of protecting INEC staff, sensitive and non sensitive materials, and the electorates, before, during and after the election is non negotiable.
The FCT Commandant, urged his officers and men to be neutral, non partisan, and non compromising during the electioneering process, calling on all officers who are currently undergoing training with FCT INEC to commit to INEC’s rules and regulations and the Corps’ standard protocols in election security management which stipulates zero tolerance for corruption and compromises.
He told his personnel that for the Corps to remain relevant in the security architecture of the FCT, personnel must go extra miles and imbibe the culture of professionalism, civility, integrity, and mental alertness which is needed to be ahead of criminals at all times.
The FCT helmsman, urged his Area Commanders and Divisional officers to remain on top of their games by ensuring that their jurisdictions are properly covered, through intensified surveillance, close relationship with their traditional rulers and communities for increased credible Intelligence gathering and prompt response to distress calls.
“We are a civil organization, hence, it is expected of us to remain civil in our approaches and relationships with residents in order to achieve greater results, tackle sensitive and non sensitive security matters as well as curbing vandalism in the FCT”.
He commended his personnel for their cooperation and commitment throughout 2025 which attracted the Commandant General’s commendation during his recent working visit to the Command.
The Commandant charged them on the need to remain determined and not renege in their commitment to protecting lives and securing Critical National Assets and Infrastructure in the FCT.
“You must refrain from mediocrity and overzealousness, but remain committed to justifying the responsibility bestowed on us by government with improved appetite for results. Therefore, whatever you are assigned to do you, I urge you to do it well with renewed zeal and passion for the job.
“So much is expected of us in the new year and we must not disappoint the people and our government servicing us time to time with tax payers money”, the Commandant warned.
He seize the opportunity to appeal to political actors and their supporters to eschew violence during the forthcoming Area Council Elections or face the wrath of the law because no such thing would be condoned as the success of the election is a must. He also appealed to the good people of the FCT to help with useful information that would assist the security agencies in delivering a hitch free election come February this year.
