Health workers commences strike Monday
The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) has announced the commencement of an indefinite action on Monday.
This is if the federal government fails to meet its demands.
JOHESU President, Josiah Biobelemoye, made the remarks Friday in Abuja while briefing newsmen on the development.
According to him, officials and representatives from federal health institutions, state chairmen and secretaries of the union are to attend a vital meeting on Monday to determine the strike.
JOHESU issued an ultimatum to the federal government which ended on Thursday.
The health workers’ demands among others are unjustified withholding of the salaries of its members for the months of April and May, 2018, upward adjustment of CONHESS salary structure, headship of hospital departments, implementation of consultancy cadre to their members and punitive actions against their members in Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri and Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) among others.
