Anambra Police Command arrests 14 suspects for electoral fraud

Fourteen suspects were arrested at Obosi and Ojoto collation centres by the Anambra State Police Command for violating electoral laws.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Rabiu Ladodo who disclosed this during a press briefing held at the State Police Command Headquarters, Amawbia, on the just-concluded presidential and National Assembly election in the state.
He said their offenses include ballot box snatching, disruption of elections, malicious damage and thuggery.
Mr. Ladodo said that they recovered two vehicles, two motorcycles, ballot papers, three ballot boxes, two knives and dry leaves suspected to be Cannabis sativa exhibits from the suspects.
The Police Commissioner stated that all suspects would be charged to court after thorough investigation.
He advised all aggrieved parties who lost in the elections not to take laws into their hands and foment trouble, instead to explore the legal avenue in order to seek redress as stipulated by the law.
Mr. Ladodo said that despite some isolated cases recorded in some parts of the state, the Command responded promptly and prevented breakdown of law and order, affirming that the elections were generally peaceful without recording any loss of life or injury.
The CP commended Ndi Anambra for exercising their civic responsibilities massively and peacefully, describing Anambra State as not only a peaceful state in the whole federation, but also the most secure in terms of safety and security.
