Former Vice President Atiku of PDP lost the Feb.23 presidential polls
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has debunked assertions that its presidential candidate for the February 23, 2019 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar made some demands of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The party said Atiku had not and would never make or accept any condition from President Buhari who was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Director, Media and Publicity, PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan in a statement Saturday made available to Apex News, insisted that the party must go to court and “reclaim” its “stolen mandate.”
The party claimed that it has the “authentic” results of the poll in all the polling units across the nation and must fight to finish.
“We shall devote every energy necessary to reclaim our mandate and have Atiku Abubakar declared President, in line with the will of the people as delivered at the polling units on February 23, 2019,” the statement added.
Members of the National Peace Committee (NPC) led by a former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) on Friday claimed that it presented grievances of Atiku to President Buhari.
The committee members on Thursday met Atiku.
Apart from General Abubakar other members at the meeting are the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan and Bishop of Sokoto, Hassan Matthew Kukah.
Also at the meeting was the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole. The meeting held behind closed doors lasted for an hour, from 3:00pm.
General Abdulsalami, said they have presented the grievances of Atiku to the president. “He did not present any conditions. He gave his complaints, which we have come to presented and discuss with Mr. President to see what can be done,” he said.
