Paramount Kogi traditional ruler, Obobanyi joins ancestors at 116

The late Chief Akaava


A paramount traditional ruler in Ihima, Okehi Local Government of Kogi State, the Obobanyi of Ohionwa in Ihima, Chief Jeremiah Akaava, has joined his ancestors at a ripe age of 116 years.
According to a statement emailed to Apex News by the Ohionwa clan in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital Saturday, the monarch who died in the late hours of Friday, was on the throne for 36 years.
In the statement, signed by Mr Yusuf Itopa on behalf of the Ohionwa Clan, it described Chief Akaava as a man who stood for peace, unity and progress of Ohionwa, Ebiraland and Kogi and Nigeria as a whole.
The clan expressed its gratitude to men and women of goodwill who appreciated the late Obobanyi’s role as a unifying force in the land and consequently showed love and respect to him while alive.
The late monarch has since been buried.
