Chief Imam of Jordan Mosque, Kofar Dumi in Bauchi metropolis, Ustaz Rabi’u Shehu has described as not only laughable, but also retrogressive to the state the emergence of two parallel Speakers at the House of Assembly inauguration last Thursday.
Ustaz Rabi’u Shehu in a sermon attributed the negative scenario at the state legislative arm of government to the handiwork of some disgruntled political elements in the system that are so corrupt and self-centered detrimental to the yearnings and aspirations of the electorate.
He explained that there is nowhere in any organization or community in the world where two persons emerged or elected as leaders with same capacity and status, stressing that the action of Bauchi lawmakers has portrayed the state in bad shape and negatively its image.
Shehu observed that the action of the Bauchi lawmakers has portrayed them as people who were aggrandize after their pockets, but not the people saying such precedence is dangerous to the survival of democracy in the country.
To this end, the Islamic cleric called for the formation of a body of reputable stakeholders with the Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, as head to devise ways to curb the perceived negative trend.
According to him, it is only the body of such like minds that could wade and amicably settle such an entangled issue likely to constitute a cog in taking Bauchi State to the next level.
Shehu also called on the legislators as the highest law-making body in the state to close ranks and choose a credible leader that has the interest of the state at heart with a view to taking Bauchi to enviable heights.
It could be recalled that the 31-member Bauchi legislature that comprised of 22 All Progressives Congress (APC), 8 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one NNPP representatives Thursday saw the emergence of parallel speakers with each claiming to be the genuine leader.
