AITEO Cup Finals: Nasarawa Deputy Governor leads delegation to Kaduna

The Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe will lead a high powered delegation to Kaduna for the 2019 Aiteo Cup final between Nasarawa Amazons and Rivers Angels on Sunday, an official confirmed.
Kwanta Yakubu, Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Abdullahi Sule on Youth Development and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) confirmed this at a press briefing in Lafia on Saturday.
Yakubu said the delegation would also comprise former Deputy Governors, Commissioners and Legislators, as well  as serving local council chairmen.
“Others are members of the state House of Assembly, Special Advisers and other critical stakeholders to cheer the team to victory. This is because of the importance the state government has placed on the Aiteo Cup final,” he said.
Yakubu added that aside the massive turnout of government officials for the encounter, the state government has pledged to reward the Amazons if they lift the trophy.
“As you are very much aware, Nasarawa Amazons has been making the state and entire Northern Nigeria proud as they are the only team from the entire northern region that has made progress in women’s football in Nigeria.
“So we are not leaving any stone unturned to ensure that the State’s female soccer club, Nasarawa Amazons, return home with the coveted trophy.
“If they win the trophy, they should be assured of great packages readily available for them, but I don’t want to disclose it for now. But, I am assuring them that if they bring the trophy home, everybody will smile,” he said.
Yakubu expressed optimism that the Amazons will come out victorious and bring back the trophy to Nasarawa as a gift to celebrate Gov. Sule’s 100 days in office.
