Anambra to benefit from 19 FG ecological intervention projects

Anambra State has been slated to benefit from the nineteen ecological intervention projects which federal government will embark upon in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
The projects were attracted by the seriousness already shown by Governor Willie Obiano towards enhancing the living standard of the people all over the State.
President Muhamadu Buhari, who disclosed this while speaking at the inauguration and handover ceremony of two anti-erosion projects flagged off at Umunze, Orumba South local government area, assured that the federal government will always assist Governor Obiano in delivering more dividends of good governance.
The projects which are being executed by the federal government through the Ecological Fund Officer, EFO, involves the construction of a-three point three-zero kilometer long stretch with ten meter wide double coated asphaltic pavement and line drains.
Further specifications show that it has a record completion period of nine months.
President Buhari, represented by the Minister of State for Environment, Sharon Ikeazor, expressed hope that the projects are expected to check flooding and gully erosion menace in the community and environs as well as become a huge relief to the community.
Commending the community for their cooperation and support for Governor Obiano, President Buhari also urged them to reciprocate his gesture by shunning indiscriminate dumping of refuse into drainage channels which he traced to flooding and erosion.
Earlier in an address, Governor Obiano, represented by his Deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke noted that the State government had intensified measures to back track erosion menace in the State and in addition called on the federal government and World Bank to continue to support efforts of the State.
