Ibi community attacked as Benue Governor, Ortom receives report on Abinsi, Fidi crises

A group of armed militia has attacked Buawa in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State killing two persons with many houses burnt in the process.

This even as the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has called for peace to reign between the Tiv and Jukun in the state.

The governor gave the charge Friday when he received the report of the Commission of Inquiry into the crisis in Abinsi and Fiidi which occurred two years ago.

According to him, his administration would not allow anyone to create disaffection between Tiv and Jukun in Benue.
In neigbouring Taraba State, however, militia attacked Buawa located along Wukari-Ibi highway Thursday night and killed two persons alongside houses.

Apex News reliably gathered that the militia stormed the village and started shooting in all directions and set ablaze many houses.

The chairman, Ibi Local Government Council, Bala Bako, was not available for comments but the Taraba Command Police Public Relation Officer, (PPRO), DSP David Misal confirmed the attack.

However, it was learnt, the Tiv community are claiming the attack was carried out by the Jukun which was denied.
