Anambra Social development agency to commence disbursement of fund next week

Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency World Bank-assisted, saddled with the responsibility of building and rebuilding social and natural resource infrastructure services at the community level will by next week commence disbursement of funds to ten communities across six Local Government Areas for the execution of micro projects as contained in the World Bank approved Community Development Plans.
The General Manager, Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency, Mr. Chudi Mojekwu, announced this during a two- day training for Community Project ManAgency agement Committee members from ten communities across six local government areas of the state.
The training, aimed at providing the participants with requisite knowledge and skills needed for the implementation of Community Development Plans, CDPs, took place in Awka, with twenty delegates from each of the ten communities in attendance.
Addressing participants, Mr. Mojekwu, announced that the ten participating communities will bring to total fifty communities they are intervening on across the twelve Local Council Sreas.
While calling on more communities within the benefiting council areas to key into the programme and beef-up their infrastructure, Mr. Mojekwu assured their readiness to supporting them with funding and technical assistance.
Taking participants on “Key issues in Community Development Plan formation” the Operations Manager, Mrs. Uche Nwizugbo, stated that CDP formulation, adopts community development approach.
Delivering a lecture titled “Financial Management”, the Financial Manager, Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency, Mr. Francis Madubuonu said before disbursement of funds, there must be a duly singed funding agreement between the State agency and the recipient community.
Mr. Madubuonu charged the CPMC members with the responsibility of presenting their financial report to the community detailing the amount received, expenditure incurred, balance of funds as well as a supporting documents whenever seventy per cent of any tranche is spent.
Earlier in a vote of thanks, the CPMC Chairman for Ifitedunu, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Sir. Pius Anigbogu, who expressed their profound joy over the inclusion of their communities, promised total adherence to lay down rules and regulations guiding the project For some of the participants, including Mr. Uchenna Afubera from Amiyi Ogbaru and Mrs. Ann Okonkwor from Uke, Idemili North Local Government Area, listed their micro projects to include, water borehole, healthy centres, secondary school, and access roads among others. The training featured question and answer session.
