Choice of Dalung as ambassador bad for Nigeria -Gombe tells President Buhari

Former Sport Minister, Dalung

A former Chairman Gombe Football Association, Ahmed Gara Gombe has come out strongly against the propose choice of former Minister of youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung as an Ambassador for the country by the Federal Government.

The former Nigeria Football Federation board member said the choice of Dalung as an Ambassador designated from Plateau State is a bad move my President Muhammadu Buhari led government because of his antecedent when he was the sports Minister.

Gombe, who is the Chief Executive Officer of PluriFlash said under Dalung’s watch as the Sports Minister, Nigeria sports world was in different crisis that affect the outcome of the country’s sporting performance.

“To ever think of Solomon Dalung as an Ambassador is not go for the image of the government. Dalung does not qualify as a manager, that is why under him as the Minister of Sports, there was crisis everywhere.

“Nigeria Basketball Federation crisis under him led to the country presenting two teams for a competition in Togo and were sent back which became a huge embarrassment for the country.

“We can all recalled Dalung’s role in the infamous Nigeria Football Federation crisis that nearly led to FIFA ban for Nigeria. Dalung threw his weight behind Chris Giwa and the way and manner he was acting showed he is desperately wanted to smuggle Giwa into the NFF Executive Committee and that is a bad trait of a good leader,” Gombe said.

Speaking further, Gombe said if the presidency decided to give the slot to Plateau State, there are lot of good and credible people that they can pick from the state but the choice of Dalung will be a means of promoting mediocrity, corruption and exporting paralysed diplomat which is a bad image for the government of Nigeria.
