Covid 19: Nnewi youths storm market to control food prices

The Nnewi Youths in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State last weekend carried out an enlightenment and sensitisation rally within the four quarters of the town.
The youths under the aegis of Nnewi Youths Forum during the enlightenment rally stormed the markets where they insisted that food stuff dealers sell at the normal price.
The President General of Nnewi Youths Forum, Amb. Paul Moneke in company of members of his executive council said the youths in the industrial town decided to go out to sensitize the people that the pandemic disease, coronavirus is real.
Amb. Moneke noted that it is incumbent on everyone in the town to obey the Federal and State government’s directive to prevent the spread.
He also emphasized the need for indigenes and residents to regularly wash their hands with soap, clean water and applying sanitizer accordingly.
“It is imperative to put on facemask, wear gloves and as maintain social distancing directive and as well stay at home for the stipulated two weeks to stay safe.
“We have told food stuff dealers that Nnewi Youths will not tolerate any arbitrary hike in the price of food items, the petroleum dealers too have been told to dispense their fuel at the approved pump price of N125.
“It is expected that the stakeholders concerned would adhere to the directives to prevent having to contend with the youths,” he explained.
Amb. Moneke pointed out that the sensitisation rally enjoyed the backing and support of Igwe Dr. KON Orizu 111 and the three Obis of Uruagu-Nnewi, Umudim-Nnewi and Nnewichi-Nnewi.
Arch. Samuel Onweluzo who spoke with journalists commended the youths for their initiative stressing that a stich in time will always saves 9 and also supported the initiative with cash donations.
