Plateau governor, Lalong

The Plateau State Government may have come down hard on defaulters of its lockdown order as about 100 persons have been apprehended and camped in the state NYSC orientation camp.

Feelers from the orientation camp hinted that those apprehended might have  entered the state from neighbouring Abuja, Bauchi, or Kano axis.

An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity informed Apex News Exclusive that “I understand that in response to the glaring disregard to lockdown of inter-state boundary yesterday night, over 100 defaulters were and rounded up and taken to the isolation center at NYSC camp in Mairana near Mangu.”

The operation that led to the rounding up of these defaulters was allegedly carried out by the state Secretary to the State Government, Danladi Atu in the early hours of Monday when the second round of lockdown commenced.

“Since they got there in the night, it was only this morning that they were fed and are undergoing medical tests to determine their status,” said the source. He further hinted that “I understand they will be there for a while in line with the COVID-19 Protocol.”

It was recalled the governor in a statewide broadcast last Thursday, expressed displeasure with the way and manner the initial lockdown was observed where he said it was compromised by those who should implement it.

Added to this, he promised to install CCTV cameras at all border entry points with a view to monitor the implementation of the order so that the state will remain COVID-19 free.
