Adamawa records 7 additional cases of COVID-19, making 12 total confirmed cases

The Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, (SSG) who is the State Chairman COVID-19 Containment Committee, Malam Bashir Ahmad has announced confirmation of seven new cases of coronavirus in Adamawa making a total of 12 cases in the state.
Malam Ahmad who made the announcement while briefing journalists at the COVID-19 situation room, state Secretariat, Yola said five of the new positive cases were direct contact of the initial case in Mubi, one new case from Lamurde and one is an escapee from Gombe State.
The was contained in a statement Monday by Muhammad B. Tukur, Senior Special Adviser on New Media to the Executive Governor.
He added that the six new cases were from the 40 sample results returned to the state out of the 63 samples sent to the Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control, (NCDC), laboratory in Abuja in which the rest 34 samples were confirmed negative.
The Chairman further said that the seventh case was an escapee from Gombe State into Adamawa, after his samples were collected and later confirmed positive and thereafter the state government having got the report went after him and got him apprehended around Jalingo.
He expressed regret that Mubi is now the epicenter of the virus in Adamawa and raised alarm that the area may be lockdown to curtail the spread of the virus and called on people to continue to observe personal hygiene through handwashing and wearing facemask.
