In continuation of his assessment tour to secondary schools in the state, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has paid an unscheduled visit to Government Girls Secondary School (GSS) Yola and General Murtala Muhammad College, (GMMC), Yola.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen in GMMC, Yola shortly after concluding the assessment visit, Governor Fintiri said the visit was to assess the state of infrastructure and facilities in the schools for reconstruction and renovation.
In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Muhammad B. Tukur, the governor who lamented the way education sector has been neglected by the previous administrations in the state, expressed readiness to provide the schools with the state-of-the-art facilities to enable them function effectively.
He applauded contributions of donor agencies and old students associations in the two schools and vowed that his administration will provide new classroom buildings, furniture and water supply among others in the schools.
Governor Fintiri revealed that he intend to undertake an assessment visit to all the first set of 21 public secondary schools in the state that will soon be rehabilitated before awarding the contract.
He said his administration will also build more hostels in some of the schools and give them befitting outlook while providing conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning to take place without any hiccups.
The Governor who was accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Bashir Ahmad and Commissioner of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Wilbina Jackson was conducted round the two schools by their principals.
