Adamawa Governor Fintiri receives ADC defectors into PDP, assures of equal treatment

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri Wednesday received state and local government executives as well as hundreds members of African Democratic Congress (ADC) who defected into the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

The Governor at the event which held in the Banquet Hall, Government House, Yola congratulated them for returning into PDP and called on them to join hands with him to rebuilt the state for the benefit of the entire citizens.

He disclosed that the recent appointments made by his administration which cut across all political parties in the state was to bring Adamawa people together and assured that he will never betray the trust of the citizenry.

He called on PDP executives at various levels and local councils chairmen in the state to treat the defectors fairly and involve them in all party activities, adding that PDP will continue to provide purposeful leadership in Adamawa.

Speaking at the event, the State Chairman of PDP, Barrister Tahir Shehu, said doors of the party are always opened for those wishing to join the PDP, and enjoined Chairmen of the party at the local governments level to carry the defectors along.

Earlier in his welcome address, the PDP Vice Chairman Adamawa Central Zone, Alhaji Yayaji Gombi, expressed happiness for receiving the ADC defectors back to the party and called for prayers and support to Governor Umaru Fintiri.

In his remark, the leader of the defectors, Alhaji Rufa’i Gombi who introduced the defectors, promised that they will deliver one hundred thousand votes to the PDP in the subsequent elections and assured the Governor hundred percent loyalty.

In their separate good will messages, Mr. Dauda Shallangwa former ADC state deputy chairman, Alhaji Koiranga a former ADC local government Chairman among other speakers said they cross-carpeted into the PDP because of the performance of Governor Umaru Fintiri in the state.

The event was attended by Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bashir Ahmad, Chief of Staff Government House, Yola Professor Maxwell Gidado, Commissioners and Chairmen of local councils and PDP in the state among other senior government officials.
