A 20-year-old herder, Nasiru Sarki, is currently being detained at the Mandala Correctional Service Centre for allegedly raping a cattle rearer, one Maimuna Mohammed to death in Lade, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The defendant (Sarki) was Tuesday docked before Magistrate Monisola Kamson of the state magistrate court for the offence of rape and culpable homicide contrary to section 283 and 221 of penal code law.
Our correspondent gathered that a brother of the deceased, Ibrahim Mohammed, reported the matter to the police after the cattle her sister took out for grazing returned to the camp without the rearer.
The search team raised by the community in respect of the matter, however, found the lifeless body of the deceased in the bush. The defendant, during the investigation, was arrested through the deceased’s phone he made away with after allegedly raping her.
