Anambra Assembly Speaker, Okafor cautioned against violation of laws protecting widow’s rights

Okafor says the law enacted by the state legislature for adequate protection of widows in the State is still in force.
In his goodwill message to widows in the state as they join their counterparts in celebrating their day, Right Honourable Okafor maintained that any form of maltreatment or intimidation of widows in the state by anybody or group is against the law of the state government.
The Speaker, who called on traditional rulers to abrogate all obnoxious laws in their communities, noted that widows should not be made to suffer additional torture upon losing their husbands.
He commended the Wife of the Governor, Dr. Ebelechukwu Obiano for using the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE) to provide a better life for the widows in the state.
The speaker enjoined affluent citizens to use part of their resources to improve the living standards of widows in their midst.
