Civil defence deploys 3500 personnel for Delta council polls

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Delta State Command has deployed 3500 of its personnel to all the local government councils of the state ahead of council elections on Saturday March 6, 2021.
The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Chike Ikpeamonwu, made this known while addressing officials of the Delta State independent Electoral Commission (DEISEC) who paid him a courtesy/working visit in his office.
In a statement by CDPRO NSCDC Delta Command, SC Eke Onyekachi to Apex News Exclusive, the Commandant reassures the readiness of the Command to work with Police and other security agencies in ensuring a hitch-free, credible and fair elections in the state.
According to the statement, armed and unarmed officers and men have been strategically posted in all the local council units, wards and collation centers to work in collaboration with other security personnel, DEISEC staff and the electorate in maintaining the Rules of Engagement, Electoral Rules and Covid-19 protocols in the discharge of their duties.
The Commandant advised the general public, politicians, electoral personnel and electorate to always play the game by the rules stating that elections is not a do-or-die affair.
He said any person or persons caught in bridging the peace of the process must be arrested and prosecuted.
