A new Attah Igala emerges this week
By Gabriel Agbonika
The confusion and delay trailing the emergence of a new Attah Igala to succeed the late Michael Idakwo Ameh- Oboni, who died in August last year, will be put to an end this week. This is because the Igala Traditional Council is expected to receive the final recommendations from the Ojogba selection committee within the next few days.
Apex News Exclusive gathered that the highly rated “Ojogba” reconstituted committee completed it’s investigation and interview last weekend and promised to submit the name of a successful candidate for the exalted position early this week to the Igala Traditional Council, which is the approval authority for the final selection of a new candidate.
The Igala Traditional Council, comprising of Traditional Council leaders of Ankpa, Olamabolo, Abejukolo, Ofu, Dekina, Ibaji, Igala-mela, etc., will then meet to formalise the approved successful candidate and send it to Kogi State Traditional Council of Chiefs for onward transmission to the State Governor who will then set a date to inaugurate the successful New Attah Igala.
Reliable source close to the reconstituted Ojogba Selection committee set up earlier this month to make appropriate final commendation for approval of the next Attah Igala, sat last Friday at Idah and interviewed the contestants. According to our source, only two of the applicants appeared personally at the last weekend screening meeting/interview at Idah. The third candidate, Mr. Ocholi Opaluwa, who is strongly believed to have been causing the confusion and delay within the royal family expected to produce a new Attah Igala, was surprisingly absent but sent a representative who was conveniently refused recognition.
