The sad news of the demise of comrade Yinka Odumakin, spokesman of the Afinefere Pan Yoruba Cultural group, hit the people of Southern Kaduna with great shock and sadness.
Odumakin was a fierce fighter for good governance, justice and democracy, not only for his people, but the entire country. He was the bridge between the Yoruba of South West and Southern Kaduna, rallying support for us and influencing many other people of high moral and social standing to speak against the genocide and other injustices that Southern Kaduna has been suffering. His intellect and the mass media were his greatest weapon which he consistently used against oppression by tormenting the oppressors consciences almost throughout his lifetime.

SOKAPU shall never forget his visit to one of our IDP Camps on 8th August, 2020, alongside leaders of the Middle Belt Forum (MBF), Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and Ohaneze Ndi Igbo. His comforting words to thousands of our traumatised people and his strong message to those responsible for their plight and the Government still remains fresh on our minds and we shall ever remain grateful.
Without the courageous voices of noble persons like Odumakin, tyranny in Nigeria would have been far worse today.
His demise, therefore is a great lose to all men and women who love peace, justice, development and good governance.
SOKAPU mourns his passing away very deeply and pray that God console his wife, Mrs Okei-Odumakin, children, his extended family, human rights groups, Afinefere and those who love him and cherish what he stood for.
