Nigeria’s former international, Benedict Akwuegbu, has tipped “The Three Lions” of England to win the ongoing Euro 2020 Nations Championship. England are playing their semi-final match against Denmark on Wednesday July 7 at the Wembley Stadium London with the hope of taking advantage of playing at home to reach the final . Akwuegbu who was nicknamed the “Austrian Bomber” for his scoring ingenuity in his active soccer days said in an interview with WITH OUR CORRESPONDENT that England have proved so far in the championship that they have the best squad in this competition. According to Akwuegbu who was a member of the Nigerian team to the 2002 World Cup Finals in Korea/Japan:”England have their best assembly of players in many years. For them beating Germany for the first time in 45 years was a huge task. With this feat, I can’t see any team stopping them form winning this edition of the competition. They are my favourites to win the Cup” In a related development Akwuegbu has enrolled into a higher institution, the Anglia Ruskin University London to study Sports Management which will equip him with the prerequisite academic knowledge to manage sports business. He embarks on a new phase of life after 21 years of illustrious professional football career. The former Super Eagles striker retired from active football 10 years ago, and on September 16, 2020, the 30-cap Super Eagles and AK Grazer of Austria forward commenced his four-year programme at the London University.
