Isa Agwai poly protest: Co-heads pay solidarity visit to Rector

The Chairman, Committee of Heads of Nasarawa State Tertiary Institutions (CO-HEADS), Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, has said they would intensify commitment towards working together to deliver on their mandate of imparting qualitative knowledge and character into the students for a greater tomorrow.
Professor Mohammed, who is the Vice-Chancellor Nasarawa State University, Keffi made the statement during meeting of CO-HEADS at Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia on Tuesday.
The VC of state university, who condemned in strong terms the violent demonstration embarked upon by the students of Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic (IMAP), and applauded Nasarawa State Government for prompt intervention by investigating the incident and subsequent reopening of the institution for academic activities.
According to him, the unity of purpose among Heads of Tertiary Institutions in the state will not be compromised, stressing that the ugly incident that occurred in IMAP has the potential of creating massive problems in all Tertiary Institutions in the State.
He, however, affirmed that the aim of their visit was to identify with the rector on the ugly incident and urged her not to be distracted in her commitment towards changing the narratives in the Polytechnic.
Earlier in her response, Rector Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Dr. Justina Anjiode-Kotso thanked CO-HEADS for the solidarity visit, noting that the unity of purpose among CO-HEADS is bond that will foster synergy that will fast track development and raise academic standards across Tertiary Institutions in the State.
She extols the virtues of Governor Abdullahi Sule in ensuring that mechanisms were put in place to investigate the matter and for reopening the Institution for academic activities.
Corroborating, Provost College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Dr. Yahaya Musa Maikeffi and Provost College of Education, Akwanga Reverend Jonathan Thani, said they were at the Polytechnic to show support and encourage the Rector to remain focused in spite of the violent protest by the students on Thursday March 11, 2021 which led to the closure of the institution.
On his part, Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mr. Zamani Habu Ibrahim appreciated CO-HEADS for the visit and urged them to maintain the tempo.
