Adamawa records 774 sexual, gender-based violence cases, convicts 297

Adamawa State has recorded 774 cases of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) between 2020 and the first half of 2021.
According to reports, 297 of the
perpetrators the have been convicted.
These was disclosed in Yola by the Technical Lead, Managing Conflict in Nigeria (MCN) programme, Dr Okohi Lekiwo, at the opening of a five-day capacity workshop.
Participants at the workshop include doctors, nurses, and counselors on management of sexual and gender based violence.
The workshop is organized by Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Department Agency in collaboration with MCV and funded by the British Council through the European Union.
Lekiwo said the workshop was organized to educate participants on how to identify and provide emergency treatment for the nation.
In his remarks, the executive chairman,
Adamawa state primary healthcare development agency, Dr. Bashir Suleiman, said the agency was ositively responding to sexual and gender-based violence in the
state.
