The Senator representing Nasarawa North and immediate Governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Umar Al-Makura has been described as the person who as National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will make the party more relevant in the country’s political climate.

The description was made by a political pressure group ‘APC Youths Progressive Forum’ while addressing Journalists through its Chairman, Ukkasha Hamza Rahama at the NUJ Press Center on Tuesday.
Ukkasha Hamza said that, “We came to the conclusion that, among all those currently jostling for the office of the National Chairmanship post, Al-Makura remains the only option to salvage the party and return it to winning glory in 2023 anticipated General elections”.
This according to him, “is because he remains the people’s choice and he has done remarkably well as Governor under the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, (CPC) that later metamorphosed into today’s rulling All Progressives Congress”.
He added that, “It is on record that he is one of the founding fathers of the APC and his contributions to the success of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is glaring in the eyes of the world. He is replicating same today as Senator of the Federal Republic Representing Nasarawa North.
“Al-Makura is a man that has a vision as demonstrated during his period as Governor of Nasarawa State and now Senator representing Nasarawa North in the 9th Assembly”, he added.
He called on all APC stakeholders and particularly the National delegates of the party on the need to rally round and support the emergence of Senator Umaru Tanko Al Makura as the next National Chairman of the party.

Ukkasha Hamza said that, “We have the challenge of building a stronger and more efficient APC. Strengthening multilateralism not an option but an obligation. It is therefore urgent that the APC show ability to respond to the main National challenges, and that the party brought closer to the people, connecting its decisions directly to beneficiaries, the citizens of the country”.

He then commended the Chairman of APC Caretaker Extra Convention Planning Committee, (CECPC) for his effort towards restructuring the party as well as accommodating more decampees from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
“We commend him on his stewardship of the party. It is for the first time in history, you have made it possible for us to hold an interactive dialogue at the Youth level. This election is therefore also another step in the process of the revitalization of the chairmanship position. Therefore, I want to stress the need for the Mai Mala Buni led committee to fast track and ensure that the convention take place as scheduled, to enable the incoming National and State executives to prepare ahead of 2023 General elections”, he also added.
He said that, “We also call on the CECPC to ensure they provide a level playing ground during the next Congresses at all levels towards successful APC Nationalconvention. As we gear up for our party convention, I believe that Al-Makura would ensure an open-door policy and work assiduously to fulfill his campaign promises”.

He also used the medium to call on all eligible Nigerian voters to come out en-mass to get registered as INEC has opened for registration and updating PVC’s across the country stressing that, “this is the only weapon at the disposal of the citizens to express fully their power in voting candidates of their choice as the 2023 National elections draws near”.
