Flood: Houses, farmlands washed away in Bauchi as communities count losses

Communities ravaged by flood disaster in Kirfi local government area of Bauchi state have appealed to the State Government and relevant authorities across the country to as a matter of urgency take proactive measures that will prevent future occurrence of the incident.
The communities made their feelings known when the State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir paid a sympathy visit to the area on Saturday to inspect the level of damage caused by the flood.
While briefing the Governor on the incident, Chairman of the local government, Alh. Garba Musa Bara said that the flood has washed away over 5000 farmlands, 2000 houses while properties worth millions of Naira were destroyed.
Also Speaking the member representing Kirfi constituency in the state house of Assembly, Umar Abdulkadir Dewu called on Government to provide immediate palliative measures for the victims to ease their suffering.
In his response, Bala Mohammed expressed concern on how the incessant cases of flood disaster is ravaging communities across the state year in year out and promised to provide lasting solution.

While commiserating with the victims the Governor constituted a Committee that would take inventory of all the losses with a view to supporting the affected persons.
