Flood: Bauchi government constitutes committees on assessment, relief disbursement

Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Senator Baba Tela inaugurates the relief committees

Three different committees have been constituted by the Bauchi State Government to examine the level of damages caused by flood in the affected areas of the state.
While inaugurating the Committees at Government House, Bauchi, Wednesday evening, the Deputy Governor, Senator Baba Tela charged the members to bring their wealth of knowledge and experience into play in the discharge of the committee’s assignment.
The Deputy Governor told the committee’s terms of reference to include inspecting all the areas affected by flood in order to determine the extent of damage with a view to assisting the victims.
Others he said is to seek the intervention of the federal government and other national, international and Multilateral donor agencies and to suggest to the state government measures to be adopted including sensitization program to avert future occurrences.
Baba Tela said that, “His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed who is worried about the level of flood disaster in the state directed for the inauguration of these committees.

“I want to appreciate His Excellency, the Governor for his concern towards the plight of the victims and we thank all our stakeholders for their support to the State Government in controlling flood”, He addled.
Baba Tela who is the Chairman of the main Committee said that the inauguration of the committees will enable the state government to provide assistance that will alleviate the sufferings faced by the flood victims.
In a remark, the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim assured the committees of the support of the state government for effective discharge of their assigned responsibilities.
