The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the party is ready to meet the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the field during November 6 Governorship election in Anambra.
Anambra State Chairman of APC Chief Basil Ejidike, made the statement via a telephone call on Friday in Awka Anambra State.
Chief Ejidike who was reacting to a statement credited to the Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment Mr. C-Don Adinuba said that APGA had disappointed the Anambra people and had lost the public confidence .
He had during a meeting with journalists in his office on Wednesday accused the APC of sponsoring the crisis rocking APGA since after her Governorship primary and also said that Anambra State is not Imo State where APC can have its way in a political contest.
Commissioner Adinuba who doubles as the Director of Media for Prof. Chukwuma Soludo Governorship Campaign Council also said that APC was rooting on how to manipulate the November 6 Governorship election in the State the way it did in Imo State during the last election.
“Anambra is not Imo State because we cannot afford our State to be like Imo State where there is insecurity and non-payment of workers’ salaries. Where do you compare our State with Imo State, is it in terms of agriculture, security, education, health, Industrialization and attracting of investments,” he stated.
The Commissioner who scored Anambra State high in the control and management of the COVID-19 pandemic said that APGA has the secret of retaining its grip on the State.
The APC State Chairman said APGA would be disappointed because Anambra State people had abandoned the party, stating that his party was already fine-tuning arrangements to ensure that it emerge victorious during November 6 election.
“We are having a lot of bigwigs entering APC from other parties and even as we speak I am in Abuja discussing the modalities for more political heavyweights in the State to join APC. But you cannot hear such story concerning APGA because the membership of that party are those using the name of Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu to defraud people politically,” he stated.
Chief Ejidike said it was rather ridiculous for Mr. Adinuba and APGA to compare Imo State with Anambra State when APGA has destroyed and underdeveloped the State in the past 16 years.
“When APGA people said Anambra State is not Imo State, is it in terms of development or what, can you compare Awka the capital of Anambra State with Owerri? Owerri is a modern city with a lot of developmental projects which adds to her asthetics, while Awka is a mere ‘glorified village’ with most of the streets not tarred due to poor leadership in APGA,” he said. He absolved his party of any involvement in the current crises rocking APGA since after it’s governorship primary.
“APGA is not alone in political wrangling face by parties, but why they cannot solve their problem is because they are incapable of handling her problems due to its low political standing,” he stressd.
