Denja: Celebrating a literary icon at 52

The best of theatre was unearthed at the stage presentation of “Mairogo – a buffoon’s poetic journey around northern Nigeria”, a book by Mallam Denja Abdullahi, the immediate past President of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA).
It was at the commemoration of his 52nd birthday on August 27 2021 at the Cyprian Ekwensi Cultural Centre, Garki, Abuja.
The event was organised by Orpheus Literary Foundation in collaboration with Benue Poetry Troupe.

The celebration was sizzled by a “Cake of creativity” performed by the Benue Poetry Troupe revolving around the book Maigoro.
Other programmes at the event included, dance, poetry, musical interlude, panel discussions with the author among others and graced some literary giants including Professor Ralph Uwazuruike, Jerry Adeshina and Deputy Editor of Daily Trust newspaper, Mallam Abdulaziz Abdulaziz.


Denja, a UNESCO-certified expert on the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, is a poet, dramatist, playwright, arts administrator and culture technocrat with 13 published books. Denja has also practiced journalism and is currently a Director with the National Council for Arts and Culture, in charge of the Bauchi Zonal Directorate.
