The 2023 aspiration of the Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Lawan Yahaya Gumau may have suffered a setback as some of his ccampaign directors on Monday announced that they resigned their positions from the fold of the Senator.
According to them, they took the hard decision to dump the Senator over alleged abandonment by the Senator and his inability to carry them along in his operations a development that is pitching them against their supporters.
According to a press release signed by the former directors copies of which were made available to news men in Bauchi, the decision to resign was taken in the best interest of their political future.
The former directors who resigned include: Alhaji Aminu Abubakar who was the director general of the Senator, former director of publicity, Alhaji Salmanu Buzaye and director for disabled people, Alhaji Saleh Galambi.
According to them, they abdicated their offices due to their abandonment by the Senator and lack of heeding their advices while conducting his activities to the detriment of the people.
They also accused the senator of preferential treatment in his representation and quarrelling with his political allies who were instrumental to his victory.
The ex directors announced that they would now identify with another senatorial aspirant in the zone Honourable Shehu Buba.
But in a reaction to the development, Senator Lawan Yahya Gumau dismissed the allegations by the former directors saying that it did not come to him as a surprise considering the political antecedent of the former directors.
Speaking to our correspondent on phone through his Senior Legislative Aide, Ahmed Adamu Lame the Senator described the former directors as “impatient, selfish and focus less people who are only interested in themselves not minding the collective interest of the people of the area”.
He added that, “their decision to leave did not come to us as a surprise, we were expecting it long before now because they were no longer relevant to our political movement, they had long ago lost relevance in the fold because of their selfish activities”.
Lawan Yahaya Gumau while reacting to the threat by the former Directors to pitch political tent with another politician in the area, he said that they are free to go anywhere because it is their rights to belong to any group saying that it will not in any way affect his political aspirations.
He stressed that in his stewardship as a Senator in last 2 years, he has positively affected the lives of people of the area as he has provided a lot of dividends of democracy which are spread across the 7 LGAs that make up the district saying that the people are satisfied with the representation.
