The Plateau Our Heritage revival initiative, (POHri), has called for the reinvigoration of the Plateau state security outfit, Operation Rainbow as a first step to securing lives and properties of its citizens.
This call was made by its Global Chairman, Hon. Alex Kwapnoe on the occasion of presemtstion food relief palliatives to three communities who have lost over a hundred lives together in systematic attacks by “terrorists”.
According to him, it is worrisome that before such attacks, the people and government are usually alerted, but because the government is always reactive, the citizens are left to bear the brunt.
“Government must step up and be proactive because attacks are carried out by terrorists and the aim is to acquire ancestral lands of the people who are helpless”, he lamented.
He charged Plateau people to note that attacks are not on a particular group or persons, but to see any attack on the Plateau soil as an attack on the whole and “We must open our eyes and report any suspicious movement in our communities.”
Earlier in a remark, the Convener, Pam Ayuba Dangwong urged beneficiaries to look at the gesture as a token, noting “It can’t take away hunger in the land but its symbolic and shows that we are brothers faced with a war attrition
He said the POHri as an organisation was initiated to seek to protect and project the state and its ideals through the portion of its legacies in the commity of nations.
The three communities that benefitted from the palliative include Miango; Bassa Yelwa – Zagam, Jos north and Wereng, Kum in Riyom
Responding on behalf of the benefiting communities, the President of Irigwe Development Association, Prince Robert Ashi described the gesture as a blessing to them and promised to delivered the donated items to those directly affected in the attacks.
He prayed that God should have mercy on the state because attacks have overwhelmed his people so that not much farm works were carried out throughout this season because of fear.
