Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, right, receives copies of the Holy Qur’an to mark his 63rd birthday anniversary
By Akanji Alowolodu, Bauchi
After months of calls from different organizations and political pressure groups on Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed to declare interest to contest the 2023 presidency, the Governor has declared he is contented with the position of Governor bestowed on him by Allah.
The Governor therefore declared that he is not so desperate a politician to contest the 2023 presidential election because power comes from God and he will always accept whatever comes his way from God.
Bala Mohammed who was speaking during a prayer session organized to mark his 63rd birthday also explained that he chose a special prayer session to show gratitude to Almighty Allah for the numerous blessings on him, especially various leadership positions he has held in his life.
The Governor said that, “I came from a royal family, I became a director, a senator, minister and now a governor; there is nothing I have not become. I must show gratitude to Allah and all of you for your support and guidance”.
He added that, “And of course, calls for me to run for the presidency, maybe it is because of my modest contributions in Bauchi. I cherish what I have become. I know that there are some gaps here and there in terms of leadership and empowerment and so on”.
“Whenever you find yourself on leadership you need to thank God for testing you because leadership is a responsibility,” he said.
Bala Mohammed used the occasion to call on religious leaders to use their sermons to preach peace and peaceful co-existence among Nigerian Citizens and particularly people of the state stressing that without peace no development can be made.
He also said that, “we need divine intervention to be able to overcome the myriad of problems particularly insecurity facing the country. You, the religious leaders have a great role to play here, pray to God for intervention”.
Bala Mohammed while thanking people of the state for the support and loyalty to his administration since it came on board, reassured that in less than two years remaining for the administration, more people oriented developmental projects and programs will be embarked upon.
Bala Mohammed also charged traditional institutions in the state to be vigilant and always profile strangers coming into their domains in order to fish out the bad eggs among them for the safety and security of all as according to him, government cannot be everywhere at the same time.
