Gombe State First Lady, Dr. Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya has called on families to put more attention on good parenting to guarantee a dignified future for their children particularly the Girl-child who deserves extra parental attention as she grows up.
The governor’s wife stated this in a message to commemorate the auspicious international day of the girl-child lamenting the increased social vices and gender-based violence that has engulfed the Girl-child in today’s contemporary world. She however, encouraged women not to relent in their bid to come up with bolder solutions to gender inequality ,adding that, this year’s theme: “Digital generation, our generation” which is meant to make the girl child an active part of the world’s progress is apt due to its relevancy with the digital global economy.
The First lady, strongly believed that girls and by extension women, are great assets of the world’s economic development that should be celebrated and provided with necessary tools to secure a better and brighter future as contained in a statement by Bintu Aliyu Sunmonu, Senior Special Assistant to the governor on media and publicity (Office of the First Lady)
