Police arrest driver who killed Gombe varsity professor

The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a suspected killer of lecturer with the Federal University of Kashere, Gombe, Professor Simon Ocheme Apakwu.
Professor Apakwu was killed at his residence on September 14, 2018.
The suspect, alongside 10 others was paraded on Friday by the Gombe State Commissioner of Police, Mr Shina Tairu Olukolu.
According to him, the suspect, one Simon Oluche, 25, who was the driver of the deceased, allegedly killed him and fled with his car, personal belongings and unspecified amount of money.
Olukolu said the command in collaboration with other security agencies in Benue, Nasarawa and Plateau states trailed and arrested Oluche on September 18, 2018 in Jos, Plateau State while attempting to dispose the car he has stolen after killing the professor.
The police said the suspect was privy to information that the professor was paid some amount of cash by the university, therefore he invited his friends, who helped him planned and executed the crime.
The police commissioner said the police are on the trail of the fleeing accomplices to arrest and bring them to face justice.
In an interview with newsmen, Oluche who was a graduate of Public Administration from the Plateau State Polytechnic denied killing his late boss.
