Speaking at the meeting, the Local Government Area, Chairman, Hon. Arinzechukwi Awogu, ably represented by Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government, Hon. Engr. His words: “We don’t want you here in Ogbaru, you people are destroying our farms with cattle and since we don’t want to make trouble with you, we want you to leave this place in next three days.
“This is planting season so we don’t want any disturbance and the only option is to leave Ogbaru for our farmers to have peace.”
Also reacting, the Councilor representing Ochuche/Ogbakuba/Amiyi and Umuzu Ward, Hon. Olisa Elizabeth Chigozie, advised the fulani herdsmen to respect the order to leave since some of herdsmen are here to forment trouble by allowing their cattle destroy peoples farming.
According to Hon. Olisa, “Ogbaru people are predominantly farmers and now in the season of planting we must do everything humanly possibly to prevent anything that may bring or cause trouble between them and herdsmen, so we are pleaded with you to heed to our order to leave for the interest of peace.”
Responding, Alhaji Dogo said he has no other alternative that leave Ogbaru since all his plea to continue their stay in Ogbaru yielded no good result.
The meeting was attended by major stakeholders in Ogbaru Local Government Area which include the Councilors, Governor’s appointees, PGs, Youth leaders from different Commnities, Vigilantee members, Civil Defence, among others.
