Rousing welcome for Taraba traditional ruler back to palace after 6 months suspension

The suspended Chief of Sansani in Gassol Local Government Area in Taraba State, Alhaji Abdulmutalib Nuhu on Monday received a tumultuous welcome back to his palace by a huge crowd after serving a six-month suspension in Jalingo, the state capital.
Our reporter gathered that hundreds of residents lined up the streets of Sansani town with several others from surrounding villages, singing and dancing in honour of the return of the 3rd Class Chief to his domain.
Speaking at the event the Chairman, Gassol Local Government Area, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa Chul commended the paramount ruler for his patience and tolerance despite the trials within the period of his suspension.


He explained that the response of the people of Sansani as exhibited by large turnout of people to give the chief a befitting welcome showed how much he was loved by his subjects.
He said that it was not true that the chief was removed but was only suspended to enable government investigate some allegations against him following a petition by some persons.
“After investigation he was absorbed of all the allegations, and the Executive Governor, Architect Darius Ishaku has directed that he should return to his seat”, he said.
The Chairman called on the chief to accommodate all the people of Sansani irrespective of their views and political affiliations.
While requesting the Chief not to see anyone as an enemy, he urged him to carry everybody along and appealed to the people of Sansani to embrace peace and cooperate with the chief to facilitate the needed development across the chiefdom.
In his remarks the Director Chieftaincy in the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Enock Danmusa said the crowd that heralded his welcome back to Sansani was a clear indication that the Chief is loved by the people of his domain.
He appealed to the people to shun petition writing in order to bring about the needed cooperation, adding that petition writing does nothing good to any community apart from distraction.
He further appealed to the people of Sansani to embrace peace and cooperate with the chief to succeed.
The director also observed that other Chiefs were suspended in the same manner in the past but they were not accorded the rousing welcome accorded the Chief of Sansani as witnessed.
Also in his speech, a major political stakeholder in the area, Alhaji Muktar Ajuji, advised the state and Gassol local governments to hasten the demarcation of the boundaries between Sansani and Gassol Chiefdoms in order to address the perennial conflicts in the area.
He charged security agencies to be pro-active in handling security challenges in the before they escalate.
In his response Abdulmutalib Nuhu called on his subjects to embrace peace and always support the developmental efforts of Governor Darius Ishaku in the interest of progress of the area.
He thanked Governor Ishaku for his justice and magnanimity in handling all allegations were erroneously levelled against him.
The traditional ruler said his return was a sign of better days ahead for the development of Sansani, after serving a six-month suspension slammed on him by the state government.
He said he has forgiven all those who ganged up against him leading to his suspension and urged anyone that felt offended by any of his past actions to forgive him.
